The impetuous force of rivers of incandescent lava .......... the fire in the hands of Hephaestus, the “Volcano God”, who forges a unique material of its kind, made of gray-black basaltic rock ....... ancient lavas solidified in layers that are deposited on the ground forming the mantle of Etna ....... the hard work in the quarries for the extraction of this stone unique in the world for its particular characteristics of strength and consistency ... men who work on Etna call this mountain with the name of "Giant Good", because they have learned to live with its impetuous fury that sometimes destroys, but very often gives its delicious fruits and a lot of raw material for the construction of population centers that rise along its slopes. At the foot of the most active volcano in Europe, in these huge quarries, we work for the extraction of these large basaltic blocks destined for the processing industry for first treatment.
Here is the arrival of the basaltic blocks in the sawmill: here begins the first real processing, with the squaring of the rocks, their subdivision based on the shape and size obtained, the classification for consistency and internal compactness of the product. These subdivisions are used to allocate blocks to specific uses: public buildings, urban furnishings, private buildings, furnishing accessories, artistic and decorative production. Only after this classification can we proceed with the creation of the first basic forms to be sold to end users, who sometimes intervene directly in the sawmill to guide the creation of the raw products according to the uses for which they were designed. Large machines work day and night to cut and smooth the semi-finished products.
Each artistic design is the result of a patient application on the plane of decoration, using special colors resistant to high oven temperatures. The drawings are then covered with a special vitrifying powder, which will give the decorated top, after firing, a glossy and transparent appearance. The special high-temperature furnace for ceramization: even in this very long and delicate phase, Gabri Ceramica checks that everything is done in an optimal way. A minimum temperature change inside the oven would suffice, in fact, to nullify entire weeks of careful processing! This, like many others, is the guarantee of quality control by Gabri Ceramica. After the ceramization in the oven with temperatures that are close to those of ... God Vulcan ... we proceed to the cooling of the building, which must take place gradually in a gradual manner with a resting phase lasting several hours, leaving the decorated surface inside the cooking cavity until the ambient temperature is reached. Here at the side here is a table decorated with drawings of lemons just out of the oven after the cooling phase, ready to be placed on a pedestal in wrought iron that will complete in a manner worthy of the realization. The artwork is so ready for sale!
